My story

…is still unfolding but a few years ago my passionate love affair of vintage linens and lace collided with my desire to create pieces of art.

It was a box of linens given to me by my Aunt. To this day, those linens hold a very special place in my heart and my shelf as they belonged to my Grammy, her Mother and her Grandmother. And so I began seeking out more pieces from around the country. I carefully handpick each hankie, scarf, doily, dress, slip, quilt, sheet, lace or trim and meticulously stitch them together into a one of a kind design.

I am excited to offer these newborn treasures as they are much more than the object created. For it passes on the bravery, courage, protection, memories, encouragement, and celebrations of life and love from the previous owner. All of my pieces are filled with many generations of courage and love which is there for the taking when one of these pieces is in your possession.

Something quite magical happens when you wear one of the handbags. Slung over your shoulder you’ll feel the courage, protection and support of the women that have owned the materials before you. Adorn one of the beautifully sewn aprons and you’ll be wearing years of celebrations filled with love and memories from the past.

I follow no rules when it comes to my designs. However, I do love to create beautifully handcrafted items that are all original which form my own kind of art. I hope they make you as happy as they make me.

I live in New Hampshire with my oh so very supportive husband and lovable but neurotic Weimaraner.

  1. Keep blogging Michelle, you have so much to offer and a gift for bringing the past to life thru linens and lace. You are needed!

  2. Michelle…..love what you have written! I especially love the following: “Slung over your shoulder you’ll feel the courage, protection and support of the women that have owned the materials before you.” This is so true! I have some pieces of linen and a crazy quilt that was my great grandmothers, grandmothers and my mothers. I feel there is still “life” in these beautiful items! It is an honor to own such a legacy and I am happy to see that you create new “life” out of these beautiful, once forgotten pieces! Keep sharing the love!!

  3. Wonderful Michelle, so lovely to share your love of linens, mine still lie waiting for that moment, that spark to fly by. I have stitched some, transformed them into gifts for myself and for others. I have painted with fabrics, but not dared incorporated them in this way. Such an inspiration! I will let it ponder, distill, age, like a fine vintage wine, for these beauties surely deserve to be treated this way.

    • Thank you so much Suzi for taking the time to visit to my new blog when you have so much going on in your life. It seems something beautiful happens in that process of transformation with these linens. I sure would love to see your collection!
